DAILY COMMUNION Tuesday march 26- Pride

DAILY COMMUNION

Tuesday, March 26th
Topic: Pride
Passage: 2 Chronicles 26:1-21
Focus: 1 Peter 5:5b
"Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble."

Uzziah is one of the greatest Kings who was greatly helped by God in the Bible but pride turned him into an invalid. I see pride as a peel of banana that fall the giant.
Pride is a feeling of honor and self-respect. It is the satisfaction or pleasure taken in success and achievements. Pride makes man to forget God in any progress. Pride makes us to feel we are better than any other person. It makes us to look down on others. Pride is the nature of the flesh which excludes God and other people.
Paul persuades himself that his only boasting is in the cross of the Lord- Gal 6:14. Pride destroys, pride stops progress, it brings no unity and causes hatred in the Church of God. Pride makes man to be irrelevant in the presence of God. It makes God to abandon or take away His gift in a person's life.
God himself resists the proud that is, God is against the proud.
Litmus test of pride:
Do you always have the feelings that you have superior opinion than others?
Is there anyone you respect before but now feels you know better than hence, disregard them?
How often do you care to complement your words with sir or ma when meeting a new person of the same age group or older persons most especially on the social media?
Do you expect praises from men and feel dejected when it is not given?
Ask close persons around you if you are proud?
Once you observe any trait of pride in you begin to: "See everyone as better than yourself"; once your mindset and view of people around you changes, it will be difficult to disregard them and you will treat them all with honour and respect.
Crucify your proud nature with your tongue: what you say is what you become. Keep telling yourself: I refuse to be proud. This will put your mindset under control.
Regular Check-ups: what are people saying about you after some time? Try to ask them.
Renew your mind with the word of God, books, godly tapes and positive association.
May the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you.

PYP: I refuse to be proud.
